Beef marketing talk planned
The Cleveland County Cattlemen’s Association and the Cleveland County Cooperative Extension plan to discuss meat marketing at an event planned for early March.
William Payne, the owner and operator of Destiny Ranch near Asher, will discuss "Truth in Labeling" related to meat products at a talk set for 6:30 p.m., March 3, in Classroom C in the extension’s office.
Payne, who has experience dealing with state and federal food labeling rules and statutes, will discuss how those impact cattle markets, processors, feedlots and cow-calf producers.
“With all the day to day responsibilities a beef cattle producer has, marketing may not always be at the forefront of the producer’s mind,” the release reads, continuing, “that part of marketing may seem so far down the chain that it hardly seems to affect you."
The meeting is free and open to the public. Persons interested in attending can reserve a spot before Feb. 28 by contacting the extension at 405-321-4774.
